Gadhada First Chapter:-36

In the Samvat year 1876 on the thirteenth day of the dark half of the month of Paush. Shreeji Maharaj was seated on a wooden bedstead laid on the platform under the neem tree in front of the temple of Shree Vasudev Narayan in the Durbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on all white garments. Garlands of white and yellow flowers adorned His neck. Two bunches of white flowers were studded over His ears. A tassel of yellow flowers was hanging from His turban, and another tassel of red flowers of arnica was studded over His turban. He was playing with a ball of white flowers in His right hand. Thus He was seated in full glory and elegance for the pleasure of His devotees. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. In the Samvat year 1876 on the twelfth day of the dark hall of the month of Paush, Shreeji Maharaj was seated facing the east, on a wooden bedstead laid under the neem tree in front of the temple of Shree Vasudev Narayan in the Durbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on all white garments. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then addressing the saints Shreeji Maharaj said, “Either you ask me a question or I ask you a question.” Thereupon the saints said: ‘You may please ask, Maharaj”. Then Shreeji Maharaj said. ‘There is a man who is not so intelligent, but he is not tired of doing all that is necessary for his own good. And there is another man who is highly intelligent and is able to point out the faults of even the great persons. But he does not follow the path of his own good. In the Samvat year 1876, on the eleventh day of the dark half of the month of Paush in the morning Shreeji Maharaj was seated facing the south on a wooden bedstead laid in the veranda in front of the hall facing the west in the Durbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put a white turban on His head and a white upper garment over His shoulder. He had covered His body with a large white double sheet of cotton. Garlands of flowers adorned His neck and tassels of silk threads and flowers were hanging from His turban, and two bunches of flowers adorned His ears. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Saints were singing devotional songs with the accompaniment of musical instruments. Then Shreeji Maharaj asked the saints to stop singing and start questions and answers. In the Samvat year 1876, on the fifth day of the dark half of the month of Paush in the afternoon. Shreeji Maharaj was seated on a wooden bedstead laid in the veranda in front of the hall facing the east near the temple of Shree Vasudev Narayan in the Durbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put a white upper garment over His shoulders and covered His body with a white cotton shawl. He had wrapped round His head a short white garment with saffron color at the ends. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Muktanand Swami asked, “The scriptures have described innumerable ways of pleasing God. Please tell us which of them can help us in achieving our goal of pleasing God: Which one is able to do as much as which can be done by all the other ways taken together”. In the Samvat year 1876 on the third day of the dark half of the month of Paush in the morning, Shreeji Maharaj was seated on a wooden bedstead laid in the veranda in front of the hall facing the west in the Durbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put a white turban on His head and a white upper garment over his shoulders. He had covered His body with a white cotton shawl. He had applied sandalwood paste blended with saffron on his forehead. A garland of white flowers adorned His neck and a tassel of white flowers was hanging from His turban. In the Samvat Year 1876 on the second day of the dark half of the month of Paush in the evening. Shreeji Maharaj was seated on a thick mattress and bolster laid in the veranda in front of the hall facing the east in His own residence. He had put on all white garments. Then Yoganand Swami asked. “Maharaj there are two types of devotees of God. One leads a detached passive life and never hurts anybody by words. The other serves God and His devotees by offering food, garments, flowers, etc. But he may hurt others by words. Which of the two is superior ?” Shreeji Maharaj did not reply to this question, but called for Muktanand Swami and Brahmanand Swami and asked the same question and waited for their reply. Shreeji Maharaj was seated on a wooden bedstead laid in the veranda in front of  the hall facing the west in the Durbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put a white turban on His head sod- a white upper garment over His Shoulders. He had covered His body with a white cotton sheet. Garlands of white flowers adorned his neck.
