He had put a white turban on His head and a white upper garment over His shoulder. He had covered His body with a white cotton ‘shawl’. Tassels of yellow flowers were hanging from His turban and bunches of yellow flowers studded with roses adorned His ears. Garlands of yellow flowers adorned His neck. He was playing with a white ‘sevanti’ flower in His right hand. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Shreeji Maharaj started His discourse with an illustration. He said, ‘There is a devotee who is a renunciate and has renounced the worldly life. But his attitude towards vairagya [non-attachment] is not very intense. Though he observes all his Vartaman i.e. his sacred religious vows very strictly. a few desires of worldly life still linger in his mind. He tries to drive away these desires from his mind sincerely. He has also […] read more

Gadhada First Chapter:-13

In the Samvat year 1876, on the first day of the dark half of the month of Margashirsh at night, Shreeji Maharaj was seated on a wooden bedstead laid on a platform under the neem tree near the temple of Shree Vasudev Narayan in the Darbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on red trousers and a red jacket. He had wrapped a rich garment with golden borders round His head, and an equally ric9 garment round His waist. Pearl necklaces adorned His neck and tassels of pearls were hanging from His turban. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Nityanand Swami asked a question, “Is there one soul residing in different bodies, or is there as many souls as there are bodies? When we cut a branch of a tree like a banyan tree, Or a peeper tree and plant it somewhere else it grows into an equally big tree. Now if you say that there is only one soul, is he divided into two, or has another soul entered the new tree? And if you say that it is the same soul, how can a soul be divided? The […] read more

Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Brahmanand Swami asked, “Maharaj, what is the nature of vasana?” Shreeji Maharaj replied. “The desire prevailing in one’s heart for objects one had enjoyed, or seen, or heard about, in the past is called vasana. The desire arising for enjoying the objects which have not been enjoyed at all is also called vasana. “There upon Muktanand Swami asked, ‘who can be called an ekantik bhakta [a single minded devotee]?” Shreeji Maharaj replied, “One who does not desire for anything except God and worships Him, identifying himself with Brahm is called an ekantik bhakta”. read more

Gadhada First Chapter:-10

In the Samvat year 1876, on the thirteenth day of the bright half of the month of Margashirsh, Shreeji Maharaj was seated in the Darbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on all white garments. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Shreeji Maharaj said. “I was going from Venkatadri to Setubandh Rameshwar. On the way I came across a recluse named Sevakram. He had studied Shreemad Bhagavat and other holy books. On the way he fell ill. And though he had goId coins worth one thousand rupees he had nobody to nurse him. So he began to cry. I told him not to worry and promised to nurse him. I took him to an orchard of bananas on the outskirts of the town. Though there was a banyan tree which was haunted by one thousand ghosts, I took him there as he was very sick. He was not able to walk, so my heart was filled with extreme pity. There I gathered banana leaves and prepared a bed one foot high for him. He was suffering from acute diarrhea. I washed him and nursed him. He asked me to bring […] read more

Gadhada First Chapter:-9

In the Samvat year 1876, on the twelfth day of the bright half of the month of Margashirsh, Shreeji Maharaj was seated in the Darbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on all white garments. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Shreeji Maharaj said. “One may worship Lord Krushna with a firm conviction that he has realized the Lord in person, and that he can visualize Him in his heart. However, as long as he does not think himself to be ‘poornakam’ [one who has fulfilled all his desires] and feels something lacking in his heart, and thinks that so long as he has not visualized the luminescent image of the Lord residing in his divine abodes like Golok, Vaikunth, etc. he has not attained his ultimate good completely. Such a person should be considered an ignorant person, and you should not listen from his mouth to any talks about the Lord. And a person who has a firm conviction that he has realized God in person, and thinks that he is poornakam, and that all his desires are fulfilled in having the darshan [glimpse] of the Lord:’ and does […] read more

Gadhada First Chapter:-8

In the Samvat year 1876, on the eleventh day of the bright half of the month of Margashirsh, Shreeji Maharaj was seated in the Darbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on all white garments. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Shreeji Maharaj said, “If the activities of the organs of senses are directed towards the service of Lord Shree Krushna and His devotees, one’s heart becomes pure, and the sins attached to him from times immemorial are redeemed. But if these activities are directed towards fulfillment of the desire for women and other such objects, his heart becomes polluted and he falls from the path of his ultimate good. Therefore one should enjoy the objects of senses in the manner prescribed by the Holy Scriptures. You should never transgress the limits prescribed by the scriptures. You should always be in the company of saints and avoid the company of the wicked. Only when a person leaves the company of the wicked and seeks the company of saints, his attachment for the body and its relatives will disappear, and he will develop intense love for God and become unattached to […] read more

Gadhada First Chapter:-7

In the Samvat year 1876, on the tenth day of the bright half of the month of Margashirsh, Shreeji Maharaj was seated in the Darbar of Dada Khachar in Gadhada. He had put on all white garments. Saints and devotees from various places had gathered before Him in an assembly. Then Shreeji Maharaj said, ‘Whenever one comes across highly spiritual matters in our scriptures, he either does not understand them or gets confused. Hence today I am going to explain to you these spiritual matters properly. Listen to me. When the soul identifies himself with the three types of bodies: sthool [physical], sookshma [subtle], and karan [causal] .he is said to have become ‘anvay’ i.e. one with the body. But when he thinks himself to be sattarnaira [mere spiritual existence] different from the three types or bodies he is said lo be vyatirek i.e. distinct from the body. In the same way when Ishwar identifies Himself with His three types of bodies: virat [visible universe], sootratma [subtle universe] and avyakrut [non-manifest universe], He is said to be one with the universe. But when He thinks Himself to be a mere spiritual existence different from the universe, He is said to […] read more
